Parish project updates
Oct. 11, 2026
I am going to give you an update about a few projects I have mentioned in the past. I wrote some time back about the parking lot and new garage projects. Since we are planning on doing the parking lot this coming year, I was anxious to get the garage portion done beforehand to make sure everything is done and where it needs to be before we begin that major project. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to these projects so far and if you still desire to do so, please let Sharon or myself know. One of my goals has always been to ensure that my successor here will come into a situation where things are taken care of and will not have to undertake any big projects. We will begin taking down the old garage and getting the new foundation in during these coming weeks in order to have the majority done before the winter hits. I am not going to pretend that I am not looking forward to having the ability to park inside during the snowy months and possibly work on a project here and there, which are some things I have not been able to do here up until now. We are also going to have a new space set up for the gardening group to keep all their supplies and tools in a single place. They work so hard to keep the grounds at St. Isidore beautiful and I think it will be nice for them to have a dedicated space for their supplies that will also enable them to keep everything organized.
While the garage is not something that affects all our parishioners that much, the other project is one that definitely does. We are getting ready to begin upgrading with new doors and entrances on both sides of the church and a new entrance for the exterior doorway to the hall. I am sure everyone has noticed how the doors have deformed over the years; how heavy they are and hard to open and swing close so suddenly – which is pretty dangerous. It will be a major improvement. Since we are going with glass doors, it will also allow a lot more light into the back of the church. It is going to be a dramatic change to the look and a vast improvement in functionality. I am genuinely excited about how it is going to turn out. Since the doors and such are going to be made to fit our entrances, they will be doing precise, final measurements during the coming week and they estimate it could take a couple months to get everything done. Since the church here has waited so long for this particular upgrade, I think we can hang on for another couple of months now to see it through.
God love you,
Fr. Anthony
