It has been an interesting summer thus far, in terms of weather and in the things that have been going on around us. We closed our last fiscal year and this last weekend we presented everyone with a summary of the general budget from the last year. Once again, we came out on the plus side of things – in the black as they say. We have gotten a number of projects completed and started in that time. There have been many smaller projects completed and there are a few bigger ones that we will mention here. We are just about finished with the last set of bathrooms at Holy Family, both parish halls have been refreshed and the hall and classrooms at St. Isidore have all new LED lighting throughout. The rectory at Holy Family had a new deck installed as the old one had holes in it and was quite dangerous. A large portion of the rectory at St. Isidore has been restored and as a result I now spend half my week at St. Isidore and half at Holy Family – so that way everyone gets to be equally miserable haha. In all reality, I am happy to be able to live on site at both parishes now. Also, I had to have a fence put up behind the rectory at St. Isidore to have a little space to let my dog, Ginger, outside. We finally began the sanctuary renovation after much planning and preparation. The woodwork has already been getting done offsite for the last month or so and much of the other materials have already been ordered. The work has finally reached the point where things are now being done in the sanctuary area. This will cause some changes to our Mass schedule during the week, and we will have some days when we cancel Mass as there will be work going on, so please keep an eye on the bulletin for that. It will only be a temporary disruption during our weekday schedule over the next few weeks, and it is a small price to pay for us to achieve the end result of beautifying our church.
To close, I want to express my deepest thanks and gratitude to all of you for your support and prayers over the last year. As we close this 4th year of my time here, I am continually humbled by how generous and kind you have been to the parishes. Your continued support and sacrifice has enabled us to make major strides in bringing our parishes up to date and improving things for all of us now, but also for those who will come after us. Your support for the DSA every year has been unwavering and your generosity to the missionaries who visit us every year has been most kind as well.
Thank you all for everything you do for me, the parishes, the diocese, the Church and most of all for our good Lord Himself.
God love you, Fr. Anthony
