We have now been celebrating the Christmas season and the blessings and joys that come from the very fact that our God has decided to take on our human nature for a little over a week now. By celebrating the Nativity followed by the feast of the Holy Family and the solemnity of Mary the Mother of God, we now find ourselves celebrating the Epiphany of the Lord. The magi traveled many days in order to be able to see and adore the newborn king. We live in a time that although it has many of its own evils, we are able to find ourselves in the presence of that same king in the tabernacles of our churches. We do not have to travel weeks or hundreds of miles as the magi did. Our good God has made himself so very available to all who seek to find him. Instead of having to look to the sky for a star to show us where the Savior can be found, we simply have to enter the church and look for the red lamp burning continuously to show us – here He dwells, with His people. This very fact, that He dwells among us, outweighs any evil this world might throw at us and reminds us that no matter how great the devil’s power might seem, Christ came to save us from Satan’s power and to lead us back to the heavenly kingdom after we had gone astray. This is why we can sing “O come all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant. Come and behold Him, born the King of angels”.
A sincere and heartfelt note of gratitude to all of you for the Christmas cards and gifts. Every year I am reminded of how blessed I am to be here with you as your pastor. I continue to keep all of you in my prayers and know that not a day goes by when I don’t bring to God in the silence of my personal prayers your struggles and crosses. May God continue to bless us in this beautiful season of Christmas and throughout the coming months
God love you, Fr. Anthony
